The Dont’s of driving in Karachi

1. Don’t wear seat belts… you might have to get out and run out of car quickly after you’ve hit someone.
2. Don’t move on green lights… someone else at the crossing is sure to be breaking the traffic signal.
3. Don’t stop if a policeman standing by the road pulls you over… he has no bike to chase you after with and if that really is the case then he’s probably just asking for a ride.
4. Don’t go to work on Fridays… unless you don’t mind getting back home on Saturday!
5. Don’t stop on red lights…you’ll just feel out of place.
6. Don’t take a left turn without checking your side view mirror… there’s always an asshole on a bike who wants to go straight from your left.
7. Don’t pay attention to the sign boards along the streets… they’re just colourful pictures for kids to look at while you are driving.
8. Don’t carry 500 rupee notes in your pocket… you always want to give less to a police dude.
9. Don’t park on the side of the road… park in the middle. Noone minds.
10. Don’t take short cuts… short cuts stand for remains of a road with a million craters, those too filled with water; sewer water mostly.
11. Don’t envy people with expensive cars… our roads have been immaculately engineered for Mehrans and `79 model Datsuns.
12. Don’t honk your horn at the people who run across the street from in front of you…you don’t want them to honk their horns.
13. Don’t mind the cattle in the middle of the roads at times…they came to this part of the world first.
14. Don’t feel bad about driving on the wrong side of the road… that’s the side they drive in USA, now why wouldn’t we want to follow that!
